How to add a line break (SHIFT + ENTER) within paragraph in Gboard on Android phone

📅

I have long had trouble figuring out how to add a line break (SHIFT + ENTER) within a paragraph on my Android phone 😥.
I have looked on the internet and asked the generative AI but could not get any valid information....

This time, I found that the Japanese keyboard of Gboard can be used to add line breaks within paragraphs (SHIFT + ENTER)🤩!

If they are not displayed correctly, please install Japanese fonts on your Windows system.

How to add a line break (SHIFT + ENTER) within paragraph in Gboard on Android phone

1. [Settings] How to set up & add line breaks (SHIFT + ENTER) in paragraphs in Gboard

1-1. Adding valid Japanese keyboard "五十音" (Japanese syllabary)

Open the following screen in the “Setting” of Android phone.

  • "Setting" > "System" > "Keyboard" > "On-screen keyboard" > "Gboard" > "Languages"

Then tap “+ Add keyboard”.

Android "Setting" screen

Select “日本語 (Japanese)” here.

This completes the keyboard addition.

1-2. Switching keyboard

To add a line break within a paragraph, switch the keyboard to the English (ABC-sequence) keyboard of the “日本語 (五十音) Gboard”.

Tap the keyboard (⌨️) button in the lower right corner of the screen.

2. [Operation Check] Actually using it on the blog's edit

I actually used it on my blog's (Blogger) edit screen.

With one line typed in a paragraph, tap ‘Shift (⇧)’ and then ‘Enter (↵)’ on an English (ABC-order) keyboard.

When I check in the HTML view screen, I indeed see a line break (<br /> tag) within a paragraph (within a <p> tag).

It is very comfortable because the operation is completed within the Gboard.

    3. In closing

By using the English (ABC-order) keyboard on the “Japanese (Japanese syllabary order) Gboard” keyboard, I can now do line breaks (SHIFT + Enter) within paragraphs on the Gboard !
I am very happy to be able to comfortably edit my blog from my phone 😁.

This time I experimented with Google's blog service (Blogger) to confirm the operation, but I believe that this line break within a paragraph is also valid for other services.

Hopefully some of you will confirm (or follow up) this with other services....
